An important part of homemaking is making your home a sanctuary for your family, here are some of my favorite ways to do that in home

1) Open the curtains
This lets in the outside light. Sun light is a wonderful thing that helps regulate your circadian rhythm and thus helps you get better sleep it also gives you vitamin D which boosts your mood and energy levels and so much more. Opening the curtains also helps you to be able to take in God's creation a.k.a. nature even if you're unable to get outside that day which is something that always brings peace and relaxation.
2) Declutter
I think I've mentioned this before in my other post on decluttering (which you can find here) but the amount of clutter that a person has in their space, especially women and mothers, is directly related to the amount of stress they feel so if we reduce the clutter in our homes, we will reduce the stress and ultimately create an atmosphere of peace.
3) Light candles
Candles not only romanticize your space, but they also help you feel calmer. Can you ever thing off a time where you're sitting at the dinner table with some candles lit where you felt very stressed probably not. Even the times when I do have candles lit and something stressful, irritating, or upsetting happens I tend to feel those emotions less intensely and tend to be able to get over them more quickly.
4) Play 432 hertz music
This instantly changes the atmosphere in your home, even my toddler and dog can sense it, everyone calms down and relaxes when I play this, and it drastically changes the feeling of our home from chaos to peaceful relaxation.
5) Use dim lighting/lamps after sunset
This goes hands in hand with both the candles and opening the curtains. Soft, warm lighting will disturb your circadian rhythm less making for a better night's sleep and also just promotes a feeling of calm.
6) Cook nutritious food and make sure everyone is fed often
The food we eat highly impacts it hormones and the stress we feel as well as if we're hungry at a given time, so I try my best to cook healthy and nutrient dense food and make sure that no one in my home gets too hungry. Especially with a toddler this helps prevent tantrums and all-around frustration for both her and I and the less of those that we have during the day the calmer we are and the better we are for greeting my husband when he comes home from work.
7) Open the windows and doors
This also goes right along with the first one but not only does this let sunshine in but also fresh outdoor air, and wonderful nature sounds too.
8) Pray over my home
Inviting the presence of God into your home is probably the best way to create a sanctuary atmosphere of peace in your home. So, as you care for each room in your home be sure to pray over them too, welcome God's presence into each space, and ask for Him to reside there and change the atmosphere of the room.
9) Tidy often
This is only doable because I have decluttered, but I often pick up my toddler's toys (or have her pick them up it depends on the day) twice a day, once before lunch/nap and once before bed. This helps with my living room not feeling cluttered and chaotic and this makes it a more relaxing space.
10) Have routines
Having a fairly consistent routine is helpful for both me and my toddler, we sleep better this way and things are simpler when both of us know what to expect each day. Consistency also helps us to get into a rhythm which makes everything run smoother all together.
11) Making sure my toddler gets good sleep
My toddler is a lot less cranky when she is well rested (as are most of us) so I prioritize making sure she gets plenty of sleep. She goes to bed consistently at 8 pm and takes a nap around 1pm each day. This is what she needs to function, your children will need different amounts of rest depending on their age and other things too, you know your child best just make sure they're not over tired otherwise they can be a cranking mess because they feel miserable and exhausted.
12) Bringing flowers into my home
Bringing nature into your home again just creates an atmosphere of calm, we as humans were created to be connected to the earth and letting the outside into your home especially in beautiful ways like flowers and sunshine is a wonderful and simple way of doing that especially on days when you can't get outside.
I hope this list gives you some ideas to try in your home especially on those days that just feel extra chaotic and stressful, I know these have helped me a lot and I hope they can help you to. Leave a comment if you have tried any of these or if there are other things you do to bring calm and peace into your home.
